Navajo artist Lester James brings together tradition and texture in this striking tufa cast cuff. After learning the foundations of stonework through inlay, and refining his craft under the guidance of master silversmith Aaron Anderson, Lester developed a style that honors both process and material.
Three quarters of this bracelet showcases the raw beauty of tufa casting—organic, rugged, and full of movement—where molten silver once filled hand-carved stone molds. The remaining section contrasts this texture with a clean, precise inlay of Kingman Turquoise and deep red Mediterranean Coral. Set in a cobblestone pattern, the stones create a vivid band of color against the oxidized silver.
The balance between rough and refined gives this piece a unique presence—rooted in traditional Navajo techniques, yet distinctly modern in feel.
