Lester James, Nevada & Arizona Turquoise Pendant, 2 1/8″ x 1 3/4″
Navajo artist Lester James takes blue cuts of Arizona and Nevada turquoise to capture the old style look of the channel inlay pendant. You will fall in love with the different shades of turquoise that look right at home against the mirror polish of the sterling silver.
Lester uses a tufa casting technique to create the classic naja shaped pendant. Using a bead wire style border carved from the tufa stone is a nice touch and makes the piece really stand out.
On the back Lester leaves a piece of turquoise exposed, and completes the pendant with shepherd’s hook to let you easily use this with multiple styles of necklaces.
Navajo artist Lester James didn't wait long to start his jewelry making career. He graduated from high school and went to work for Anasazi Traders, a jewelry manufacturer in Gallup, doing simple repairs.
