Drawn from the Kingman Mining District, Turquoise Mountain stone carries a character all its own—sky blue layered with warm golden matrix, like desert earth meeting open sky. In this cuff, Navajo silversmith Melvin Francis sets a row of round-cut stones, each one slightly different, creating a natural rhythm across the wrist.
Turquoise Mountain | Sterling Silver
Drawn from the Kingman Mining District, Turquoise Mountain stone carries a character all its own—sky blue layered with warm golden matrix, like desert earth meeting open sky. In this cuff, Navajo silversmith Melvin Francis sets a row of round-cut stones, each one slightly different, creating a natural rhythm across the wrist.
Framed in sterling silver, the stones are paired with bold silver drops that echo traditional Navajo design. The contrast between the bright polish and the darker, oxidized background gives the piece depth while keeping the focus on the stone.
Solid in weight and balanced in form, this cuff has a presence you feel when worn. At each end, deep stamp work finishes the piece—quiet detail that reflects Melvin’s steady, traditional approach to silversmithing.
A classic row design, shaped by hand and grounded in place. Melvin made two very similar cuffs with these round Turquoise Mountain stones, the only difference is the matrix pattern that fills each rock.

It’s a familiar story in Native American jewelry: one generation passes the craft to the next. That’s how Navajo silversmith Melvin Francis got his start. From the time he was eight, Melvin sat at his father Ted Francis’s workbench—watching, helping, and slowly learning the skills that would shape his life. Today, Melvin still uses many of the same tools his late father once held in his hands.
